ZeroTrash
What does ZeroTrash™ mean?
Fifty year ago, by-products of consumption all ended up in a landfill, a river, the atmosphere or the oceans.
Since then, we have made huge strides in awareness and behavior. Many of us are diligent about separating recyclable materials like plastic, glass and metals from compostable materials -- everything from banana skins to kitchen roll -- but still, something always ends up in the trash.
What happens to cars, sofas, televisions, carpets and wash-hand basins after being picked up by the city's trash collection service?
Here at GreenBook, we strive to reach the point where there is no trash collection. We want everything to go into composting or recycling. Ultimately, that means starting at the atomic point of manufacturing, but to encourage manufacturers to "do the right thing", we have two methods:
- Changing the law
- Changing our buying habits
Let's start with #2.
Greenbook provides its community members with the information they need to select the best products to help us all achieve ZeroTrash. When you know which products score high and which score low, you use your pocketbook to get through to the manufacturers.
